Portable Toilets for Summer Events

Line of new public toilets in public space

If you’re an event manager, faced with the need for supplying portable toilets for a big event, you may have multiple issues to deal with. We’d like to give you a few tips.

Portable Toilet Selection Issues and Solutions

The story here is a series of possibilities:

(a) You don’t want people using onsite “alternatives” to toilets

(b) You don’t want the sort of reviews that lack of amenities tend to cause

(c) You’re obliged by law to provide adequate amenities, including disabled facilities

All of these issues have straightforward solutions. These are the typical selection problems and quick fixes:

·How many portable toilets do you need?  Many event managers will tell you this is a problem they wish they’d explored more fully. If you’re holding a big event, you can use anticipated numbers of attendees as a good metric. A thousand people could need up to 20 portable toilets.

·More is better. The sad tales of waiting in line at public events are all too true. It’s not a fun experience. It can also be a legitimate cause of complaint. More toilets mean quicker turnaround, less waiting, and more fun for attendees.

·Site considerations:   Don’t just assume you can put portable toilets anywhere. You can’t, because access and maintenance of the toilets may require onsite mains connections and regular cleaning. Talk to your service provider about these issues before you do anything else regarding toilets for your event.

Choosing the right toilets

The bottom line here is that you need top quality toilets.  A few matters for your consideration:

·New modern portable toilets are basically problem-free. These toilets are designed to take high usage and have better performance in terms of usability by large numbers of people. They’re also equipped with basic amenities like wash basins, etc.

·Old style toilets mean trouble. There are still a few of these fossils on the market, but they’re trouble in just about every way imaginable. They break down regularly. They’re mainly good for possible lawsuits for non-compliance with just about all modern hygiene standards. Avoid at all costs

·Don’t tolerate substandard toilets: If a toilet doesn’t meet your expectations, it won’t meet the expectations of your attendees, either.  Check out the latest modern portable toilets to see what’s available, before you make a decision.

·Make sure you have disabled toilets available:  You must have disabled access toilets onsite at any public event. Preferably, you should have enough of them to ensure disabled people aren’t put at risk by lack of amenities.
