What is a portable toilet?

A portable toilet is a lightweight, transportable, self-contained toilet that is often seen at construction sites and festivals.  It is also known as a ‘portaloo’, ‘chemical toilet’, ‘portable loo’, or a ‘porta potti’.  The portable toilet is an effective solution in providing toilet facilities to a group of people at a temporary location.

How often does a portable toilet need to be serviced?

A portable toilet must be serviced every fortnight or more frequently as required. The Health (Temporary Sanitary Conveniences) Regulations 1997, Section 32 – Maintenance of a Temporary Toilet, indicates that portable toilets must be “serviced once in every 2 weeks or in such a shorter period”.

How many people should I allow per toilet?

Smart-loos are designed to provide for a maximum of 10 persons per week based on weekly cleaning.

Can you guarantee my toilet will not fill up between services?

Unfortunately, no.  There are many factors that affect the usage of portable toilets and the amount of waste generated in the units.  In social/event settings, weather, alcohol consumption and food consumption are the common factors in usage rates. However, if on a work site the total amount of people on the site and the total time they spend on site each day are all significant factors with toilet demand/usage.

How long can I hire a Smart-loo toilet for?

Smart-loo portable toilets can be hired out for social events over a weekend, or for more long term projects like construction sites which need portable toilets for weeks at a time.

Can I arrange a portable toilet to be delivered on a weekend?

Yes. Smartskip are operational six (6) days a week and can deliver Smart-loo portable toilets to you on Saturday.
